To celebrate the 40th Anniversary Issue for Offshore Engineer Magazine, MaxMach employee Sage Hansen's painting titled "Moving Forward" was featured on the cover of the January 2015 edition. The theme of the January issue is “Looking Back, Moving Forward.”
The creation of this painting was a special request from OE Magazine. The industry publication wanted to pay tribute to their very first cover showcasing Britain’s first offshore oil field, Argyll, located in the central North Sea. The oil field previously produced millions of barrels of light sweet crude oil before being decommissioned in 1992. In 2002, the field was acquired for redevelopment and renamed Ardmore. In 2008, Ardmore was decommissioned and is currently under a redevelopment project.
The focus of Sage’s painting was to recreate the scene from the 1975 image and update it with the industry’s more modern, next generation equipment. “I wanted the background to appear abstract with loose brushstrokes and mixed colors, and have the equipment be more detailed for contrast,” said Hansen.
